THE MIRACLE OF BEING BORN AGAIN
The miracle of New Birth happens when Jesus is received in your heart as Saviour of your soul. It is only Jesus who can save you from your sins. No religion or doctrine or sacrifice or the good works that you do or any preacher can save you from your sins except Jesus because he offered Himself as the final sacrifice that atoned for our sins when you are born again.
“And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;” (Hebrews 10:11-12)
“For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” (Hebrews 9:26-28)
That is why Jesus is our Saviour. “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11)
“And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.” (John 4:39-42)
“And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.” (1 John 4:14-15)
“To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.” (Titus 1:4)
We cannot understand what it means to be born again and experience new birth in Christ Jesus by our own human understanding unless with the help of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ said in John 3:3 that, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3-5) He was answering a question asked by a Jewish ruler by the name Nicodemus who came to see Him at night for fear of being seen by the other Pharisees. Jesus told him that “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:6-8)
Jesus told him that “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:15-17)
Some people marvel like Nicodemus how one can be born again. Jesus was saying that whoever wants to enter the Kingdom of God and be counted as “… fellow citizens with the (other saved) saints, and of the household of God;” (Ephesians 2:19) he or she must be born again as a new creature by accepting Jesus Christ to be Lord and Saviour of your life. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
When you accept Jesus Christ to be Lord and Saviour of your life, Christ Himself will enter into your heart to dwell in you in the form of the Holy Spirit. You will receive God in you with all the package of godliness and life all rolled into one and experience new life in Christ Jesus our Lord because of believing in Him that He came down from heaven and offered Himself to die on your behalf and descended to hell to dump all our sins to the devil and resurrected to heaven having triumphed over sin and over the devil. A lot of things will change in you after you are born again and you know it full well and you even confess Christ as your savior to others.
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;” (Mark 16:17 [KJV]). In this world, one is either being controlled or influenced by the evil spirit or by the Holy Spirit. If you want to know which of the two personalities you subscribe to, just do an audit of who you talk about most. If your language is about getting worldly pleasures and how to get rich quickly (by hook or crook), politics, sports, women, wine and wealth, know that the pleasures of this world have an indelible mark on your life and the Holy Spirit is a stranger in your life. You speak the language of the world in order to fit with others of this world. Jesus Christ was promised all the kingdoms of the world by the devil when He was being tempted: the riches, the pleasures of this world, the wealth and riches of this world, the palaces, stocks, real estate, skyscrapers, casinos, women, tickets to enter everywhere, name it, if only He could worship the devil but He rebuked the devil and told him to get behind Him.
“And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” (Luke 4:5-8 [KJV])
In this life, you are either worshipping the devil or worshipping God and not there in between. There are those who believe in themselves and go to every length to ascribe or associate their achievements to their academic abilities, political prowess, business acumen and personal effort and God does not feature anywhere in their lives. They are either worshipping themselves or their God fathers, ancestors or actually worshipping the devil himself. No wonder there is a lot of devil worship in the political and business world today.
God plan is that whoever believes in His Son Jesus Christ will experience a new life that will be modelled on new heavenly language of confessing Jesus Christ as your Saviour to the world and speaking in tongues.
When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, the Holy Spirit shall come upon you and change your language, your heart and your mind, translating you from being carnal to spiritual, changing you from the one who seeks to be drunk with the pleasures of this world to one who is drunk with the Holy Spirit. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you will be drunk with the Holy Spirit and you will start “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” (Eph 5:18-21 [KJV])
And the following signs shall follow them that believe that Jesus came down from heaven and offered Himself to die on their behalf and descended to hell to dump all our sins to the devil and resurrected to heaven having triumphed over sin and over the devil. “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:18 [KJV])
You are not being born again to be filling the pews in church, enjoying home fellowships, hugging the other believers in crusades and giving long testimonies to other believers. God has saved you from your sins and made to be His son so that you go out and preach the gospel of His Kingdom by telling the world of the goodness of the Lord in that He sent His only begotten Son here on earth to offer Himself to be sacrificed on the cross at Calvary and to die on our behalf so that whoever believes in Him may not perish but inherit everlasting life. When you obey His commandment that you go out and preach the good news of all that God has done for you by Saving you from your sins, then God is assuring you that the following signs shall follow you and whoever else shall believe the Gospel message that Christ came to set the captives free. “You shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 [KJV]) You shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19 [KJV]) All the above powers available for believers is to enable them preach the gospel of our Lord and Saviour of the world in a wicked world that is under the control of the enemy the devil. For you to overcome the enemy the devil, you need to have power over him so that you can undo all the mess he has done to the people of God: men and women suffering from incurable diseases, possessed by demons, hooked by psychoactive drugs, wallowing in abject poverty, captured in various kinds of prisons, the rich crying of broken homes, blackmail, intrigues and worrying about everything except money. “Or how else can you enter into a strong man’s house unless you first binds him. And then he will plunder his house.” (Mark 3:27). All the powers Jesus Christ promised His followers and believers are to equip them with power to bind the devil who is the god of this world. When Adam and Eve sinned they turned over dominion and management of the earth to Satan. Satan is called “god of the world” in 2 Corinthians 4:4, “prince of this world” in John 14:30 and “prince of the power of the air” in Ephesians 2:2. In 1 John 5:19, the Apostle John said, “We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the grip of the evil one.” We must “first bind the strong man” (Mark 3:27) if we are going plunder his house – this world over which he rules. The devil has clamped placed on man’s shoulders heavy burdens of sicknesses and diseases, curses, condemnation and shadow of death and clamped all manner of bondage and captivity around peoples’ necks and unless a Saviour comes who can remove all those wages of man’s sin, that yoke of bondage has been the inescapable tragedy of man’s existence
The purpose of God giving you a new life is to equip you for the work infront of you of preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of heaven here on earth so that you win souls for Christ. Leading them to accept Jesus Christ in their hearts as their Lord because He came to the world and was anointed to set the captives free when He publicly declared that “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” (Luke 4:18-21 [KJV])
That is the commission given to us all, to be born again so that we enter into a new life of preaching Christ to the nations. As you continue in the word (and remember Jesus is the word of God), you shall know the truth that has been hidden for ages, that Jesus is the Christ. Many have never known who Jesus is. They think He was just a prophet and the truth of who He is has been hidden to many. “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:” (Col 1:26-28 [KJV]) The mystery that has been hidden for ages but is made manifest to a few is that Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing. Most Christians know nothing about the anointing because when the Bible was translated into English, the translators failed to translate the Greek word Christ. And because of it, the devil was able to steal a major revelation from the Church. People began to use the word Christ as a title. Some even used it as if it was Jesus’ last name. But it is not. The word Christ is a Greek word Christos that is a translation of the Hebrew word Messiah. Translated into English, it means anointed or the Anointed One. It also refers to His anointing.
When Jesus declared that He has been anointed to preach the gospel to the poor; that the Holy Spirit hath sent Him to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, He was telling them that He is the Messiah prophesied by Isaiah in the book of Isaiah 10:27 that said that “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” (Isa 10:27 [KJV]) Mark the words “the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” What prophet Isaiah said was that the anointed one shall come to remove the burden from off our shoulders and the yoke from around our necks. There is only one thing that can remove burdens from our shoulders and destroy the yoke from around our necks and that is the power of God which is the anointing. The word anointing means God’s presence, His essence. It is the thing that makes God be God. The anointing is God on human flesh enabling flesh to do those things that are impossible for flesh to do. That is why Jesus had to come to us as Immanuel, God dwelling in us so that we can confidently declare that “Christ is in me, my hope of glory” (Col. 1:27). Meaning that the anointing of God is in me, my hope of seeing the glory of God one day when my Lord Jesus the Christ will introduce me to His Father and my Father in heaven. That is the truth about being born again to enjoy new life in Christ Jesus our Lord, a life of miracles overtaking us and all over our lives because the Anointing of God is upon us. We should emulate the first church where the disciples were preaching Christ (not preaching about Christ but preaching the Christ, Anointing of God and His Anointing) everywhere and miracles followed them. “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” (Acts 5:42 [KJV])
“Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city.” (Acts 8:5-8 [KJV])
